The exhibition project introduces the collections of Islamic calligraphy of the Yelabuga Museum-Reserve and the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve. Damir Akhmatgaliyev’s graphic works, replicas of Quranic pages written in various handwritings, will be on display at the exhibition.
Visitors to the exhibition will see a gallery of artistically decorated Quran sheets from various parts of Russia, including Andalusia (Spain), North and Central Africa, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Central Asia, India, and China. Visitors will be able to see how the Quran’s handwriting and design evolved from the end of the 7th century to the present day.
