Touring Exhibition of Winners and Short-listed Nominees from the 4th All-Russian Biennale Design Competition ‘Conceived and Made in Russia’. Since 2018, this ambitious initiative by the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Art has served as an open platform for dialogue about contemporary Russian design.
This transcends mere display of craftsmanship and aesthetics – it reflects cutting-edge trends, from tactile innovations and sustainable materials to new paradigms of consumption and interpretations of local identity. Every project represents a timely response to contemporary challenges, materialised through object design.
The exhibition showcases 200 original works of contemporary decorative-applied art and design, created by artisans from across the nation. The display features ceramics, textiles, furniture, lighting, art objects, interior sculptures, and studio tableware. The exhibited works include both functional objects and artistic compositions, united by exceptional craftsmanship and innovative approaches to materials.
The exhibition’s geographic reach spans dozens of Russian cities—including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Makhachkala, Cherepovets, and Vologda. Visitors will encounter unique works crafted from recycled materials, crystal, porcelain, wood, wool, and biocomposites—each offering contemporary interpretations of traditional techniques and aesthetics. The creators include both established masters and emerging designers who reinterpret cultural heritage while proposing their unique visions for future object environments.
For the first time, works by contemporary creators will be exhibited alongside early 20th-century artefacts from the collection of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Art.
