Description of Exhibition

A rare opportunity to view unique palaeontological finds – skeletons and reconstructions of ancient reptiles dating back 260 million years.

The ‘Advanced Lizards’ inhabited what is now Kirov region for millions of years prior to the age of dinosaurs, dominating as Earth’s most numerous herbivores of their time. This very site on the Vyatka River near Kotelnich has yielded a unique faunal assemblage: over 20 Permian-period species, 16 of which were unknown to science before their discovery here – all extraordinarily well-preserved.

The exhibition features skeletal mounts and reconstructions of ancient ‘strange-toothed’ creatures.
