The children’s art exhibition is presented as part of the Belle Époque: European Art at the Turn of the 19th–20th Centuries project from the Collection of the State Hermitage Museum.
The Belle Époque — that golden age of artistic flourishing, cultural vibrancy, and creative inspiration — finds its echo in the works of these young exhibition participants. After encountering masterpieces by Impressionists and Post-Impressionists from the Hermitage collection—works by Monet, Matisse, Picasso, and Van Gogh—the children created drawings brimming with imagination and emotion.
The young participants imagined themselves as artists — Impressionists, Post-Impressionists, Fauvists and Cubists. In their vibrant drawings, you’ll discover a reimagined Kazan — where the Kremlin bursts with colour, streets and parks come alive in bold hues, and iconic landmarks take shape through playful geometric patterns and stippled dots of paint. Be sure to read the labels where our young participants introduce their favourite Belle Époque artists and share personal reflections about beloved city landmarks.
The exhibition features works by participants aged 6 to 15, including both established and new young artists. This children’s art exhibition offers both visitors and residents of Kazan a wonderful opportunity to rediscover familiar landmarks and hidden gems through the imaginative lens of young artists.
The exhibition runs until 14 September 2025. Free admission.
