ABOUT MUSEUM

The Islamic Culture Museum is a structural subdivision of the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve, housed on the ground floor of the Kul Sharif Mosque.

The museum provides broad information about Islam as a global religion as well as an introduction to Islam’s role in the history and culture of the Tatars; besides, it reflects the Tatars’ perception and contribution to Islamic culture as a whole, as well as the differences in Muslim traditions among the peoples from the Volga region.

The museum’s exposition includes Turkic-language handwritten and printed publications, ceramics and tiles from the Golden Horde period, a model of the Nur Ali Mosque, which was located in the Kremlin in the 14th and 15th centuries, a miniature Quran with a special miniature case from the 19th century, and much more. The museum also has an interactive exhibit called “Flipping Quran,” where you can listen to popular surahs performed by famous reciters and get acquainted with the original Arabic text and translation of the Holy Scripture.

The museum regularly conducts highlights and thematic guided tours, master classes, quests, quizzes, and other cultural and educational programs geared towards all age categories.
