Memorial stone dedicated to the laying of the Kul Sharif Mosque’s foundation stone

On February 21, 1996, a memorial sign was solemnly laid on the site of the future Kul Sharif Mosque on the ground of the former Junker Military School, whose construction had been announced by Decree of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev (November 13, 1995): «To maintain historical continuity, create the Kul Sharif Mosque and etc.» The decree’s text is inscribed on stone. The stone was moved to the north of the mosque as active construction began. The area in front of the mosque and the stone is designated for religious ceremonies on major Muslim holidays.
