The Museum of Islamic Culture is a structural unit of the Kazan Kremlin Museum‑Reserve, located on the basement floor of the Kul Sharif Mosque.
The museum provides a general understanding of Islam as a world religion, introduces the role of Islam in the history and culture of the Tatar people, reflects the specific character of the perception of Islam and the contribution of the Tatars to the wider culture of Islam, and the distinctive features of Muslim traditions among the peoples of the Volga region.
The museum’s display presents Turkic‑language manuscript and printed editions, ceramic ware and tiles from the Golden Horde period, a model of the Nur‑Ali Mosque that stood in the Kremlin in the 14th–15th centuries, a miniature 19th‑century Quran with its case, and much more. The museum also features an interactive exhibit, the ‘Turning the Pages of the Quran’, which allows visitors to listen to popular surahs performed by renowned reciters and to explore the original Arabic text and translation of the Holy Scripture.
The museum regularly offers guided tours, themed tours, masterclasses, quests, quizzes and other cultural and educational programmes designed for all age groups.
